RPI (retail price index) price increases are usually written in to contracts theses days.

Most networks will apply an annual increase to your tariff based on the increase in the RPI or retail price index.

So keep an eye out whenever the rate of inflation is announced around February.

Increases will appear on your April invoice.

Should I use a Personal Mobile Account for my Small Business?

A lot of smaller companies have their mobiles under a consumer account in a director’s name.

This may seem like a good idea early on, yet it can cost you more in the long run.

None of the major UK networks will provide you with a VAT invoice on a consumer contract. This means you can't reclaim the VAT. This is true of EE, O2, Vodafone and Three.

The only way to claim the VAT back, is with an itemised VAT invoice. So if your business is VAT registered you need to be on a Business Mobile Contract or you are wasting money.

Personal Mobile Contracts Appear on your Credit Report

Each time you add a device to your personal mobile account. You will need to go through a personal credit search. To many credit search may affect you ability to get credit for another purpose.

What is the cost of using data abroad?Expand

Most countries support UK data usage so you will be able to use your data allowance whilst overseas.

Roaming charges and tariffs can vary between countries. To make sure you understand any charges give us a call beforehand.

What happens we go over a data allowance?

What happens if an employee goes over their monthly data allowance?

If you haven't made provision for this beforehand you are going to be charged extra. We work closely with our clients to make sure they have things in place to prevent unexpected charges, whilst allowing their staff to stay in contact.

Can I upgrade my business’ phones before the end of my existing contract?Expand

Yes we can help you do that.

Each network is different which we can guide you through the process.

Can I switch my personal phone number to my business contract?Expand

Yes you can move your exisitng personal phone number to you business contract.

How do I move a number from one account to another.

You will need a Porting Authorisation, or PAC Code from your current network.

PAC codes are easy to get by texting or calling your current network provider. You PAC code will be texted to the number.

Your phone number will port to you new SIM card at the specified time, you may need to restart you phone to help the process.

You will need to backup files and numbers and transfer them separately.

How long will it take to port my phone number to a new SIM card?Expand

The time this takes is constantly improving, the quickest is next day or it can take up to two weeks.

We will let you know when it is going to happen so you can plan.

Will I get an account manager?Expand

Yes, when you become a Holbrook Telecom client you’ll get a dedicated account manager.

They will be your main contact and will be able to help you with anything you need.

If they are not available someone else will be available for you.

What is my contract length?Expand

Mobile contracts vary in length, we have contracts with the following terms.

The length of a contract is dependent on several factors including

You get a higher level of personal service from Holbrook Telecom.

In very large organisations like the mobile networks, it can be difficult to get to speak to the person that will ultimately help you.

We take that pain away as we will be able to help you directly or quickly get in contact with the right team on your behalf.

If you run into any issues we will be able to help you resolve them more quickly, with less time on hold.

Your personal choice of mobile network may not actually be the best option for you, but they will never tell you that.

We will let you know if there is a better, more suitable option for your circumstances.

We will be able to offer you a comparsion of all the main networks.

My business phone has been lost or stolen. What do I do?Expand

If your business mobile phone or SIM card is lost or stolen then get in touch with us as soon as possible.

We can put a block on the phone to stop it being used.

If you need a replacement phone we can quickly arrange for a replacement.

Exactly how we do this will depend your specific situation.

What is the difference between a 'business' and 'regular' phone contract?Expand

A business contract is charged to your business and is a tax deductible expense.

So you pay for it before you pay for it before your company pays any tax.

Also you will recieve a VAT invoice and will be able to reclaim the VAT paid (if you are VAT registered).

Personal contracts do not recieve VAT invoices so you cannot reclaim the VAT.

Phones replacements are available with a much quicker turnaround, speed of replacemnt varies between networks.

Business contracts, especially those with more connections on them receive improved pricing.

Aggregated data may also be available it can help you make big savings in an organisation.

What do i need to get a Business Contract?Expand

Business contracts are available for

Limited companies
Partnerships
Limited Liability Partnerships or LLPs
Sole Traders

The company will need to prove that you represent them and pass a credit check

Prove you represent the company and have authority
Prove your identity
Address of the business

Often this information can obtained from;

Companies house.

Utility bills for the company

Personal Identification, driving licence and or utility bill.

When will my first monthly payment be?Expand

Usually your first monthly payment is due within 30 days.

Is a deposit required?Expand

A deposit may be required depending on value of equipment and the result of credit and other security checks.

Are there any upfront cost? Expand

Some offers will have up front charges, others do not.

It is dependent on what you need and what contract is most suitable.

Is the price including or excluding VAT?Expand

Our business prices always exclude VAT, you will always be provided with a VAT invoice to reclaim VAT.

Do you offer data roaming as part of a contract?Expand

Yes we will be able to offer you a contract that includes data roaming.

We will be able to tell you on the most cost effective option for you situation based on historical or expected usage.

What happens If I run out of data?Expand

These days this is no longer straight forward.

You may pay for more data up to a prearranged spend cap, you may just pay for the data you continue to use or you may get free data but at a reduced speed.

Its important that you understand what will happen and that spend caps are in place from day one.

We offer to do this for all of our clients so they don't get surprise bills.

Can I increase the number of lines during the contract? Expand

Yes, if you need more connections we can set them up at anytime and tell you the best way to do this.

Can I cancel my contract halfway through?Expand

This is possible but there are likely to be termination fees, this is why it is important to put the right contract in place in the first place.

We will help you make the right choice based on your situation.

There is a problem with my current contract can you help me?Expand

Each case is different but we may be able to help or advise you on how to exit your current contract.

If you are taking out a new contract with us we may contribute towards your contract termination fees.

Can I upgrade during my contract?Expand

Only if you are an existing client with a contract in place or a new client taking out a contract.

There are other suppliers who are more suitable for you to buy a phone handset from.

Who owns the handsets at the end of the contract?Expand

You own the mobile phones at the end of the contract.

Some companies want to retain ownership even though you have paid for the mobile phones.
